Your download link arrives by email. Unzip the whole folder, then open Graduate Lab with the launcher for macOS, Windows or Linux. After that it works offline, with no account. Install guide

Graduate Lab is practice aligned to IB topics in math, physics and chemistry, from Glenar Laboratory. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization. $49, paid once; all sales are final.

1. Download the zip

Open the email that arrived after checkout and click the download link. You get one file, Graduate-kit-2.7.9.zip. It works on macOS, Windows and Linux.

2. Unzip the whole folder

Unzip it and keep the folder together somewhere you will find it again, such as Documents. Don’t run anything from inside the zip, and don’t open the pictures in app/art; those are backgrounds, not the program. START HERE.txt in the folder has these same directions.

3a. On a Mac

  1. Double-click Fix Permissions.command once. Do this first.
  2. If macOS says it can’t verify the developer (Graduate isn’t signed, so you only allow it once): on macOS 14 and earlier, right-click → Open → Open. On macOS 15 or later, click Done, then System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. The same applies to any .command file.
  3. Double-click Graduate.app. Graduate opens in its own window. It needs Python 3; if macOS offers to install the command line developer tools, click Install, wait, then open Graduate.app again.
  4. Preferred: run Install Graduate App.command to put Graduate.app in your Applications folder (~/Applications) and keep it in the Dock. Graduate then opens in a clean window of its own, without the browser’s address bar, bookmarks or other toolbars.

3b. On Windows

  1. Preferred: run Install Graduate App.bat to pin a Graduate icon to the Desktop and Start menu. Graduate then opens in a clean window of its own, without the browser's address bar, bookmarks or other toolbars. Start as App.bat and Launch Graduate App.bat open the same clean window.
  2. Windows needs Chrome or Edge installed for the clean window.
  3. Double-clicking Open Graduate.html opens Graduate in an ordinary browser tab instead, not the clean window. So does the Launch Graduate.bat fix in the troubleshooting section below.
  4. If SmartScreen appears: More info → Run anyway.
  5. Python isn’t needed on Windows.

3c. On Linux

  1. Open a terminal in the folder and run:
    chmod +x "Launch Graduate.sh" "Install Graduate App.sh" serve.py
    ./Launch\ Graduate.sh
  2. Python 3 (or Node.js) starts the local server. Chrome, Chromium or Edge opens a window if installed; otherwise your default browser opens.
  3. Optional: ./Install\ Graduate\ App.sh adds a menu and Desktop icon.

4. First open

You’ll see the hall with Enter the laboratory, Aptitude test, Settings, Exam, Questions and About. Graduate runs in your browser from your own computer and works offline, with no account or sign-in. Please don’t use the browser’s “Install as app” option on the 127.0.0.1 page. Your progress is kept in the Graduate folder, so use Export map before you delete or move it, and Import map to carry progress to another computer.

If it won’t open

  • Mac, “you don’t have permission” or “laboratory files are missing”: run Fix Permissions.command once (allow it as above), then open Graduate.app again.
  • Windows, page blank or pictures missing: run Launch Graduate.bat and leave its window open. If Windows blocks it: right-click → Properties → Unblock → Apply.
  • Linux, Open Graduate.html is blank: that’s normal on Linux; use ./Launch Graduate.sh. Install Python 3 if needed (sudo apt install python3 or sudo dnf install python3).
  • More fixes are in IF IT WILL NOT OPEN.txt in the folder.
